Star Wars Identities Exhibition: A Force to be Reckoned With

Star Wars fans, it’s time to board the starship.

STAR WARS™ Identities: The Exhibition is speeding into a blazing arrival at the ArtScience museum. This is the tour’s last stop after travelling the world for eight years. After this stop, all these memorabilia will return to California, where they will be permanently displayed at the Lucas Museum Of Narrative Art in Los Angeles.

A starship has momentarily landed in Singapore in-between its inter-galaxy travels

They will be docking here from 30 January 2021 until 13 June 2021.

Expect behind-the-scenes conceptual art, original costumes, movie props, and a self-guided tour with ten interactive checkpoints via a RFID bracelet. The bracelet brings visitors on a tour to explore the idea of identity, culture, and parental influences to better question what forces shape you and your beliefs. Through the tour, visitors can explore the origins of Luke and Anakin Skywalker from their time on Tatooine, to the friends and mentors they meet during adolescence, through the choices they make that will define them as adults.

Stormtroopers standing at attention for your inspection

Listen to the stories behind the storyboards, puppets, and costume design. The original Ralph MacQuarrie’s concept art which he drew for the first movie Star Wars (1977) is already starting to fade, but you will get to see it in its original state in this exhibition. It will be dimly lit to preserve its paper.

Every artefact has been carefully set up by staff who have undergone proper quarantine procedures. Though the items arrived in February last year for a May exhibition, things became complicated when the pandemic struck. ArtScience Museum underwent negotiations with Lucasfilm to delay the show’s opening and to keep the artefacts in Singapore.

Immerse yourself back in the familiar world of Star Wars

The admission is ticketed, but SingapoRediscovers vouchers can be used. Star Wars Identities will feature 200 original items from the original Star Wars trilogy, the prequels, the animated series Star Wars: The Clone Wars, and Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

You don’t have to travel to a galaxy far, far away for your next adventure! Have a look at what you can expect in the exhibition:

Can you be as fashionable as these Star Wars celebrities?

As wise Yoda once said: “Do or do not. There is no try.”
