If you’ve ever had serious doubts about a main character’s decision making skills on the big screen, well, fret no more, because now you get to make those decisions. That’s right – from 22 April onwards, Golden Village will be screening Late Shift, an interactive crime thriller where you can make key choices on behalf of the main character.
How It Works
Before the movie begins, viewers will have to scan a QR code using the CtrlMovie app on their phones. You’ll then step into the shoes of Matt Thompson, a college student that gets entangled with a group of armed robbers. Throughout the movie, there’ll be occasions where multiple choices pop-up on the screen, prompting you to make a decision. And just like in real life, there is no pause button, so you’ll only have a brief window to make your decisions before the movie carries on.
The movie has more than 180 decision-making points, so you’ll feel really involved in the story. Each choice leads to a different outcome, ranging from minor changes to entirely different movie endings. Of course, since there’ll be other viewers in the cinema, the main characters will be following the decisions of the majority. Yay, democracy.
How to Watch
Tickets for the movie start at $13 for weekday tickets, and the movie premieres in Golden Village cinemas on 22 April. There’s also a more exclusive Gold Class preview session on 20 and 21 April featuring a three-course meal, but comes at a much heftier price tag of $98 for the public.
If you want to see the movie again for different outcomes, just show your Late Shift ticket (or e-ticket) for a discount off your next movie tickets. Alternatively, you can actually find the same movie on many gaming platforms such as Steam or even the iOS app store, although you won’t get the same cinematic experience as in a cinema.
