As work from home restrictions loosen, at least 75% of us will be able to head back to our offices by now. Having slugged at home in our PJs, messy buns and bare faces, we may have gotten used to the comforts of our home workspaces. If you’ve gotten a little too laid back (re: sloppy) in your general disposition, here is our five-step guide for your back to office glow-up!
1. Comfortable Office Wear
We get it – working from home in oversized tees and dry-fit shorts is the ultimate level of comfort.
But what if you can look sleek while staying snug and relaxed? To achieve an office appropriate comfortable outfit, try going for loose-fit, stretchable pants. A wide-leg pants or a pair of culottes is a good start. Pair it with a basic top or a long sleeve to complete the look.
Alternatively, you can opt for a flowy midi dress instead of tight-fitting skirts.
2. Natural Glowy Makeup
Staying home means going bare-faced never felt bad. But as we head back to the office, some of us may want a mini makeover to take on clients, meetings, or just for that extra confidence boost. Going for a full-faced makeup look may be too intense for some of us transitioning from months of staying bare-faced, so here are some make-up tips for a natural yet refreshing look!
Instead of a high-coverage foundation, try using a CC cream or a tinted moisturizer, which evens out your skin tone while remaining breathable. Keep the rest of your makeup minimal – use light colours for blush, bronzer and eyeshadow, and cut back on the intense eyeliner or heavy layers of mascara. To give your lips some colour without having to slap on lipstick, a tinted lip balm does the trick, and you don’t have to worry about it transferring on your mask.
3. New hair, don’t care
A messy bun or low ponytail were likely our default hairstyles for the past few months staying at home. Why not switch it up with fresh locks as we head back to the office? The options are endless, be it going for a full-on transformation with a new colour or perm to just giving the mane a short trim. Either way, it gives a fresh look to complete your back to office glow up!
4. Clock in some exercise
Whether you have been doing home workouts, running around your block, or heading to your neighbourhood gym, going back to the office may make it difficult to keep up with your fitness regimes. To find the time to clock in some exercise amidst hectic work schedules, you can sign up for a gym membership near your workplace! If you are someone who likes to change up your fitness routine every now and then, opt for a class pass, where you can book various physical activities of your liking – spin, yoga, boxing, dancing.
5. Listen to a podcast
Glowing up starts from the inside out and with the uncertainty brought by the pandemic, it is good to give ourselves a mental health check-in, especially as we slowly transit back to office life.
Many podcasts have been released in the past year, with a wide range of topics such as lifestyle, fitness, philosophy, and pop culture. On your daily travel to and from work, you can listen to podcasts of your interest to give your day a meaningful start, or wind down with a reflective end.
