Cycling is a great way to stay active and to unwind, but it’s even better if you could admire the beauty of nature while you’re at it! Grab your bike and whiz through picturesque forests and sea views with these five cycling trails around our little red dot.
Coney Island Park
Besides being rich in history, Coney Island Park houses a wide variety of habitats, including coastal forests, grasslands, mangroves, and casuarina woodlands. It is home to a variety of fauna and flora, some of which are rare and endangered. Ride through the island along the 2.5km Coney Island Park Connector and take in the beautiful promenade view of the Serangoon Reservoir. While you’re there, cycle over to Punggol Waterway Park, where you can relax by the benches, look at the waterfront views and do a little bird watching.
Yishun Dam
A short distance away from Seletar Airport, Yishun Dam extends across a long stretch of road that leads towards the shore, boasting scenic views right next to the waters. While cycling along the dam, you can catch planes taking off and landing during the day and watch the sun set in the evening. If you’re lucky, you can spot birds like the Grey Heron and White Collared Kingfisher! The environment is calm and serene, making it a great place for a super chill bike ride.
East Coast Park
East Coast Park is Singapore’s largest and most popular park, set against a gorgeous backdrop of lush greenery, beach and sea views. Cycle along the 10km beachside stretch – making your way through Bougainvillea Garden where you can surround yourself with beautiful pink and purple bougainvilleas; make a pit stop at East Coast Lagoon Food Village for a quick bite, then head over to Singapore Wake Park where you can catch wakeboarders riding waves. If you’re up for it, wrap up the day at Cyclist Park which features pump tracks, skills courses and other obstacles for cyclists of all levels to brush up on their cycling skills.
Changi Beach Park
One of the oldest coastal parks in Singapore, Changi Beach Park still retains a kampong ambience from the 60s and 70s. Cycle along the winding tracks in this 3.3km-long linear park with stretches of pristine white beaches. Visit the park in the evening to catch breathtaking views of the sunset. Airplane enthusiasts can also watch planes flying in from offshore, heading towards Changi Airport.
Gardens by the Bay
While it is a very popular tourist attraction, a lesser known fact about Gardens by the Bay is that it makes a great cycling spot too! Cycling is permitted along the waterfront promenade in Bay South Garden and the perimeter of Bay East Garden. Trail through a seemingly endless variety of beautiful plants while soaking in the views of the beautiful pavilions, lush green lawns, swaying palm trees and the stunning Marina Bay Financial District skyline.
