The best things in life are free. No, we’re not talking about the warm hug of a loved one nor the gentle pitter-patter of the rain on your face. We’re talking about these eight completely free online tools that makes us believe that there is still good out there in the world, somewhere. You just have to look for it.
Well actually you don’t have to look too far as we’ve compiled them right here for you.
Photopea is basically a Photoshop clone that is, believe it or not – completely free! It has all the same basic features of photoshop with a very similar user interface. Photopea is great for quick edits within your browser of image files and even .psd files.
Archive.org has literally millions of free downloads for music, movies, books, software – you name it. A personal favourite of mine is the Internet Arcade which is stocked with tonnes of classic games like Outrun and Q*bert. #retrogamesrule
Ninite is a single place to select whatever software you need installed on a new PC – all at once. This is a simple, hassle-free way to get all the software you need without having to go to each individual source. I reckon Ninite saves easily 3-4 hours of your time, which can then be rechanneled to more productive tasks like doom scrolling Facebook.
4. Unsplash
Unsplash is a royalty-free image free library where you can get free photos of just about anything, for anything you want to use it for. If you are running a content website like say, GEN X, this resource is invaluable to say the least. Thanks, Unsplash.
Audacity is a surprisingly powerful audio editing software. It’s an easy-to-use, multi-track audio editor and recorder and exists on both Windows and macOS. This is great for both quick edits and even more complex mixing/recording. The audacity to give away this software, free!
5. VLC Video Player
VLC plays virtually every video file you could possibly have out there. .MOV? No problemo. WMV? Right on it.
The Covid-19 period has seen a significant increase in the use of live-streaming by content producers and brands. OBS Studio levels up those livestreams aesthetically by allowing you to create cool graphical overlays, transitions and toggle between different audio and video streams. OBviouSly you need to download this.
Blender is a free and open source 3D creation suite. It supports the entirety of the 3D pipeline—modeling, rigging, animation, simulation, rendering, compositing and motion tracking, video editing and 2D animation. Did I mention that Blender is completely free? So go ahead and Blend it like B…nevermind.
Krita is a painting software with a fantastic user interface, a myriad of tools and brushes and even allows you to create 2D animations out of those assets. How such a professional tool is available F.O.C boggles the mind but who’s complaining? Probably still a whole bunch of people but let’s just ignore them.
