Disney+ has finally launched in Singapore and we dived into their 500 films and 15,000 episodes of content to curate shows you watch over the next one year. From much-acclaimed Broadway musical Hamilton to long-anticipated Disney+ Originals like WandaVision and The Falcon and The Winter Soldier, the streaming platform promises much to offer.
We shortlisted a list of 10 shows from their 6 different content brands: Disney, Marvel, Pixar, National Geographic, Star Wars, and Star.
Star is a Disney-owned brand that will feature content from ABC, Hulu, FX, and Freeform for non-American countries. Star will offer films and series like Deadpool 2, Desperate Housewives, as well as Emmy-winning shows like How I Met Your Mother and The X-Files. Star caters to older teens and adults, and will also put out shows from some of their brands like FX and 20th Century Studios.
Take a look at our curation, plus a sneak peek at Raya and the Last Dragon movie stills – the movie is to be released in Singapore’s Disney+ on March 5.
1. Star Wars: The Mandalorian
The Mandalorian continues off five years after the events of Return of the Jedi (1983) and the fall of the Galactic Empire. It stars Pedro Pascal as the title character Din Djarin, a solo bounty hunter hired to track down “The Child”, Grogu (better known as Baby Yoda among Star Wars fans).
Read our feature on why the Mandalorian is the New Hope for Gen Xers.
2. Pixar: Soul (2020)
Soul (2020) is the first Pixar film to feature an African-American protagonist. This jazzy and snazzy animated film will reel you into the vibrant world of colour and souls – literally.
It’s a feel-good movie great to watch with your family (and perhaps shed a few tears over). Pixar on Disney+ will not only bring an array of Pixar films like Ratatouille (2007) and Coco (2017), it will also make available Pixar short films like Bao (2018) and the adorable sandpiper bird in Piper (2016) – all the way back to short films as early as those produced in 1984.
3. The Walking Dead (2020)
Ten seasons of The Walking Dead are available on Disney+, along with other Star content like Desperate Housewives, and the Emmy-winning The X Files. There are also movies like Kingsman: The Secret Service (2014), Deadpool 2 (2018), and Wes Anderson’s The Grand Budapest Hotel (2014).
4. Disney: One Day At Disney
Ever wondered what it’d be like to work at Disney?
Disney+ brings you there through their One Day At Disney fifty-two episode docu-series and full-length feature film. Currently, only the feature film is available, but dive in-depth into the details, the magic, and the people that make Disney, well, Disney. Hear from The Walt Disney Imagineer who has overseen the creation of props and lifelike creatures in Star Wars, to a legendary animator who has worked on various Disney classics like Pocahontas and Aladdin.
5. NatGeo: Own The Room
Follow five young star students on their journey to win one of the world’s most prestigious competitions for student entrepreneurs in Own The Room (2021). This National Geographic documentary film about student entrepreneurs is premiering exclusively across Disney+ on 12 March 2021.

6. Marvel: Movie Marathon the Marvel Cinematic Universe
Your favourite Marvel superheroes are making a comeback in never-before-seen content, namely the highly anticipated WandaVision and The Falcon and the Winter Soldier.
WandaVision will be a blend of classic television and the Marvel Cinematic Universe in which Wanda Maximoff (Elizabeth Olsen) and Vision (Paul Bettany) live suburban lives, until they begin to suspect that things are not what they seem.
In The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, Anthony Mackie aka The Falcon (Sam Wilson), and Bucky Barnes aka The Winter Soldier (Sebastian Stan) team up on a global adventure that tests their abilities and their patience for this six-episode series.
Plus, it doesn’t hurt to movie marathon your superheroes’ adventures in the Marvel Cinematic Universe…
7. Star: The Simpsons
The Simpsons (1953) and all its humour across the series and their movies will keep you entertained. Both The Longest Daycare (2012) and Playdate with Destiny (2020) are on the streaming platform.
8. Hamilton
Lin Manuel Miranda – need we say more? Or maybe we should sing it aloud: the much-acclaimed Hamilton is coming to you on the streaming platform. Winner of the 2016 Pulitzer Prize for Drama, Hamilton received a record-breaking 16 nominations and won 11 awards, including Best Musical at the 2016 Tony Awards.
Watching this masterpiece just once doesn’t make us satisfied.
9. Disney: Artemis Fowl (2020)
Based on the Artemis Fowl series by Erin Colfer, 12-year-old genius Artemis Fowl will go against a powerful, hidden race of fairies to rescue his kidnapped father. How will Disney bring to life the beloved children’s adventure? We can’t wait to watch and find out.
10. Star: Titanic (1997)
